The Dollar Tree Application Process
If you want an hourly position at Dollar Tree, you will have to fill out a paper application and drop it off at the store where you'd wish to work. If you want to work in management, read on for a detailed walkthrough of the application process.
Management application
The Dollar Tree application for management positions is pretty simple and straightforward. If you take a little bit of time to prepare all of your information beforehand, you should be able to complete it in 20 minutes or less.
The first page of the application is designed to collect your personal information. You will need to provide your name, address, phone number, availability, education, email address, and resume. You can either upload your resume, or choose to paste it into a provided box. You must fill out this section quickly, or your session will time out and you will have to start over again (yeah, it happened to us too).
For the remainder of the application, you just need to provide your social security number, answer some questions about your eligibility to work, and respond to some questions about your ability to perform the job. For example:
"How many years of experience in hard goods retail do you have?"
"Are you able to perform all duties indicated with or without reasonable accommodation?"
Background check
Before you complete the Dollar Tree application, you will need to consent to a pre-employment background check. Any employment offers from Dollar Tree are contingent upon passing this background check.
How to Get Updates on Your Dollar Tree Application
Unfortunately, Dollar Tree does not provide automatic application updates at this time. If you've already applied to Dollar Tree and would like to know where you stand, the only way to find out is to contact the hiring manager at the store you've applied to work at.

History
In 1986, K.R. Perry opened five stores called 'Only $1.00,' a chain that focused on selling items that cost one dollar or less. In 1993 they changed the name to Dollar Tree, and the company went public in 1995.
Though Dollar Tree did expand through natural growth, they also grew through acquisition. Dollar Bill$, 98-Cent Clearance Centers, Only $One, Dollar Express, and Greenbacks are just a few of the companies that they purchased and re-branded under the Dollar Tree name.
Today, there is at least one Dollar Tree store in every state in the continental United States. The company recently expanded into Canada as well, with the acquisition of Canadian chain Dollar Giant. There are currently more than 4,400 Dollar Tree locations in North America.
